PARAGLIDING COURSE APPI 1

An easy, fun and safe paragliding course. Our paragliding courses are aligned with the international teaching standards of the APPI (Association of Paragliding Pilots and Instructors), an international organization based in Switzerland that issues valid licenses worldwide. All the learning necessary to become a freelance paraglider pilot is divided into 3 courses (Basic, Intermediate and Advanced). This means that after the third course, called APPI Advanced Course 3, you will be able to fly independently without the supervision of an instructor. For example, you can go to the Miraflores Paraport, prepare your equipment, take off, fly as long as you want and land on your own. Below are the details of the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced courses:

The aim of the course is for you to learn to paraglide on your own in all types of flight: over dunes, cliffs and mountains. The APPI 1 basic course, which consists of 5 practical and 5 theoretical classes, allows you to make many low-altitude flights and 1 high-altitude flight

It takes place in Cucuya, sand dunes located in Lurín, where you will make 30-meter-high flights and learn the basic techniques of paragliding such as takeoffs, landings, turns. It consists of 2 classes of 5 flights in each class. This stage is the most dynamic of the course, since each flight will learn a different technique. A great advantage we offer our students is that they do not have to climb the dune by walking, as we have ATVs to upload them with the teams on each flight. This makes learning faster, easier and safer.

It consists of 1 class, which are made in Pachacamac, Miraflores or Pasamayo. You will perform 1 high-altitude flight, the height of the flight varies from 100 to 400 meters, depending on the flight area. The objective of this class is to learn how to use updrafts of wind, takeoffs and landings alone. These classes are the most exciting of the course, since in addition to flying high and for quite some time, you will do it on areas of incredible flights and with beautiful landscapes.

It consists of 2 classes of 2 hours each. In the ground handling control classes, the paragliding is inflated with different techniques. Although in these classes you are not going to fly, the ground handling control is extremely important and indispensable for safe flights. With good habdling control, you can take off in any wind condition and in any area. In addition, the control of paragliding in flight is the same as on land, so the more you practice control on land, the better and safer you will fly. These classes are held at the Parapuerto de Miraflores

It consists of 5 theoretical sessions. The subjects that we dictate aerodynamics, meteorology, flight techniques, equipment and air legislation.

At the end of the course you are certified with the first “APPI 1” license by the APPI. The APPI is the only international paragliding association, it is recognized by the FAI, so its license is valid throughout the country and abroad. We take care of processing this license.

The Basic paragliding course APPI 1 costs 1200 soles.

After completing the course, you can take the next course that certifies you as “APPI 2”. We recommend doing it immediately after finishing the first course, as you have fresh knowledge. For them, we grant a good discount when the student enrolls in both courses.

Paragliding in Lima. The intermediate course can be done immediately after completing the basic course. Its objective is that you master the altitude flight and that you learn to use the thermals and wind to take altitude.

The course consists of 5 practical classes and theoretical classes.

It consists of 4 classes, which are held in Pachacamac, Miraflores or Pasamayo. You will perform 2 high-altitude flights for each class, the height of the flight varies from 100 to 400 meters, depending on the flight area. The objective of this class is to learn how to use lift of wind, takeoffs and landings alone.

It consists of 1 class of 2 hours. In this class, paragliding is inflated with different techniques and to keep control of the paraglider inflated for several minutes. This class is held at the Parapuerto de Miraflores.

At the end of the course you are certified with the second license “APPI 2”. The APPI is the only international paragliding association, it is recognized by the FAI, so its license is valid throughout the country and abroad. We take care of processing this license.

Fly paragliding in Miraflores. This course can be done immediately after completing the intermediate course. It aims to be a fully autonomous paragliding pilot, that is, you do not need the help or monitoring of an instructor to fly. The course consists of 10 to 15 practical classes and theoretical classes. To complete the course you have to have an accumulated of 25 flights of height and master the control of paragliding on land.

You can perform high altitude flights in Pachacamac to obtain the specialty “Alpin Pilot” (mountain pilot) and in Miraflores to obtain the specialty “Soaring Pilot” (coast pilot). On average you will make 20 flights in these two flight zones.

During the ground handling classes you will reinforce the knowledge already learned. With these classes you will master the ground handling, which will allow you to take off without help in any wind condition in a safe way

At the end of the course you are certified with the first “APPI pilot” license grant by the APPI. The APPI is the only international paragliding association, it is recognized by the FAI so its license is valid throughout the country and abroad. We take care of processing this license.
