In Peru, it is possible to obtain two types of paragliding license. The Peruvian paragliding license issued by the APVL (Peruvian Free Flight Association) has been issued for 20 years. While the APPI international paragliding license (Association of pilots and paragliding instructors) is issued for Peru since 2016. Only the INFINITY paragliding school can grant both licenses. The rest of the schools and instructors can only issue the Peruvian license.
Advantages of the international APPI license
APPI paragliding license valid worldwide
APPI is the only international paragliding association. Due to its high pedagogical and safety standards, APPI licenses without well received all over the world. Even many countries have incorporated the APPI system to grant their local licenses. As tourists it is possible to fly around the world and rent equipment without any problem. Unfortunately, that does not happen with the Peruvian license. Because the national association is not known, many countries do not recognize this license as valid. Therefore, we always recommend that our students obtain their international license if they wish to travel for paragliding.
Processing the APPI license is very simple
APPI has a very useful and easily accessible web portal. Through this, an instructor can register his student and validate his corresponding license. In a matter of minutes the student receives his temporary license that he can print or have on his cell phone. In addition, the physical license arrives within a few weeks at the desired address. The student also has access to the portal where he can verify the status of his licenses and payments. On the other hand, the Peruvian license only has a physical format that takes a month to be issued and must be collected in Lima. While the APPI license has a digital format, a temporary one that can be printed and the physical one that is sent by regular mail to the student’s address
Teaching tools and resources on the APPI website
The APPI web portal also provides students with essential pedagogical resources. The student can download the theory manuals. You can also take exams online. On the other hand, there is very useful information from around the world, such as a detailed list of paragliding schools, instructors and two-seater pilots by country. There is also a section with all the events and training courses that are taught throughout the world. The website of the national association APVL has information on rules and regulations, but does not have any pedagogical material for students
